Can you lift a car with your head?

This video looks really old but it seems to be for some Guinness World Record and it is in Singapore! Anyone got more info about this though I’m pretty sure the Hercules is not a Singaporean.

Check out this crazy video.

Singapore Waterless Washing Machine

IOL:

A waterless washing machine that removes stains from garments in a few minutes has been developed at the National University of Singapore, the facility said on Wednesday. The appliance uses negative ions, compressed air and deodorants to clean clothes. Industrial design students Wendy Chua, 21, and Gabriel Tan, 23, said they were inspired by the technology in air purifiers, which uses negative ions to clump dirt and bacteria, making it easier for the particles to be sucked out. The ions are a natural cleaning agent.

First Newater now this waterless washing machine. Another solution to our water problems. Soon we’ll have our very own waterless water bottle. Woot.

Owls in Singapore

I’m not a bird expert or anything but this morning I was abruptly awoken and ushered to my kitchen. Standing on the window grill was this huge owl. I rushed to get my camera phone and it just turned to look at me, I moved closer hoping to get a clearer shot and it flew away.

So I just wanna know, was I hallucinating or was that really an owl? Do owls come to Singapore? Do owls fly into HDB estates?

Skype teams up with Pacnet to provide skype-based services in Singapore.

ChannelNewsAsia:

Nasdaq-listed and Singapore-based Pacific Internet (PacNet) has signed a partnership agreement with Skype, headquartered in Luxembourg, to provide Skype-based voice services here.

Both companies will provide a co-branded version of the Skype software, scheduled to be launched later this year.

Wah, Nasdaq-listed! Pacnet teaming up with Skype is definitely Pacnet’s best decision to date. Singapore’s share of telephony market, saturated? Who cares? The consumers will no doubt benefit from this.

Skype is a PC-based application where anyonecan make calls over the internet to anyone with an account.

Teacher’s sex blog?

I caught this article on TNP (Sunday?). Actually it was the main story, nobody can miss it. There was this female blogger who supposedly posed with her sex toys and incidentally, she also has links to some photos of her with school students on an excursion. She was a teacher and that’s why there was all this big hoo-ha.

Apparently she had taken down all ‘inappropriate’ material from her blog.

Natural history news for the busy Singaporean

NUS has a blog for Habitat news and definitely a must read if you’re really into all things nature, biology and environment.

I’m just curious. Are there any other similar blogs hosted on NUS’s site?

Probably the most delicious cakes and buns ever

Located in Holland Village is this small and cozy coffeehouse (bakery?), if you’re looking for a place where you can enjoy nice cakes and buns and maybe a latte to go along you might want to check out Provence. I highly recommend the Milk Pan and Blueberry Cheese Cake.
