Sleater-Kinney breaks up

Right from their official website:

After eleven years as a band, Sleater-Kinney have decided to go on indefinite hiatus. The upcoming summer shows will be our last. As of now, there are no plans for future tours or recordings.

We feel lucky to have had the support of many wonderful people over the years. We want to thank everyone who has worked with us, written kind words about us, performed with us, and inspired us.

But mostly we want to extend our gratitude to our amazing fans. You have been a part of our story from the beginning. We could not have made our music without your enthusiasm, passion, and loyalty. It is you who have made the entire journey worthwhile.

I only found out ’bout them in 2005 when I heard a few songs from their last album. Real awesome stuff. Be sure to go check them out!

Driving Lesson 3

My brother told me that thou the instructor the driving school assigns you is random, you’ll usually get back the same few ones. It’s the 3rd lesson today and every lesson is a different instructor.

Should I pay the extra $8 each lesson and stick to an instructor who can at least speak properly?

Oh ya, I went onto the roads today and didn’t get into any accident. Unbelievable! :D

Fire? Who cares?

I was having lunch at the New Park Hotel with my family the other day. The place was pretty packed and we were glad to be able to get a table for four somehow.

Suddenly we heard a deafening ring. It was the fire alarm. For a moment I just stopped whatever I was doing. Many things were going through my head;

Should I run?

Should I eat a few more slices of that delicious roti prata?

Will anyone notice I didn’t finish the food I took and didn’t like amidst everything?

Then I just looked around. No one else is doing anything, no one seems even slightly concerned about the fire alarm. Everyone just continued eating like nothing’s happening.

Is this absolute complacency?

Is this the result of our ‘everywhere also can see’ Civil Defense Campaign?

Movie Review: Scary Movie 4

Caught this yesterday at Jurong when I accompanied her to a certain chalet (I forgot the name) for her cousin’s birthday.

The previous installments were just a barrage of parodies of other movies and this is no different. One thing I must mention, if you’re not a regular movie-goer, you won’t enjoy this movie.

With several references to War of the Worlds, Saw etc. if you haven’t watched any of them, you’ll be going “Huh?” for like 80% of the film.

Rating: 3/5

Camp Hangover

Waking up at 5.30pm for dinner. I’m still very much alive, don’t worry people.

Movie Review: Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties

Lazy movie reviewer day

I didn’t catch the first one but you don’t have to watch the first one to understand this movie.

Driving Lesson 2

I finally went for my second lesson 2 days ago.

“Eh, wtf? So long already still lesson 2 you noobshit?”

If only lessons were just as easy to book.

I remembered lesson 1 was kinda of a torture. First time driving, instructor shouting non-stop incoherently. Lesson 2 was much better.

Halfway through the lesson, I suddenly asked the instructor, “How much extra much we pay for a fixed instructor?”

Don’t underestimate this seemingly innocent question. If you know how the driving school system works, you’ll probably understand why after saying that, the instructor started guiding me like he’s the happiest guy on earth.

When you book a lesson, you’re randomly assigned to a instructor every single time, unless of course you pay an extra $8, then you will have the option to choose your own instructor.

Amazing isn’t it? I’ve decided to ask this same question in all future lessons. Woohoo.
